The contribution in forming the minds of the future is a priority for us. We are now opening applications for carrying out thesis projects in air and water treatment at Ozonetech. Please see summary of project descriptions below. The work dedicated to a one-semester project each (30 HP). Preferred start for all projects are August to September. Candidates must be fluent in English and Swedish. Drivers license B-level is required.

Deadline for applications are 31 July, however we will interview candidates continuously and may fill the project positions earlier.

Catalyst and ozonation testing for air treatment applications

Industrial air emissions are one of the most important environmental challenges of the last decades. The emitted compounds, often VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds, are very toxic, representing a severe hazard for humans and the Environment. Ozonation and catalysis are very efficient treatment techniques that also greatly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Further strategic R&D is needed may be needed in some cases.

The candidate will perform experimental tests to evaluate catalysts and adsorption media for VOC reduction applications. The performance of the different materials will be investigated, with great emphasis on lifetime and LCA (Life-cycle assessment). The synergy between ozone and the tested samples will be included, evaluating benefits in terms of operational costs and energy efficiency. The project will be carried out using an existing lab test rig, after starting up the system. Fresh and spent samples will be analyzed with catalysis characterization techniques, if necessary.

Destruction and treatment of fatty exhaust streams

Ozonetech is a strong player in the industrial sector and real estate sector where fatty exhaust streams must be handled carefully in order to enable effective energy recovery and prevent fire risks. We are now looking to investigate break-down kinetics and overall treatment results for various fat loads present in different applications and exhaust sources.

The candidate will execute both experimental design and mathematical modeling with the aim to optimize system configuration and treatment results for very complex problem statements. The performance of different technologies will be investigated, with great emphasis on lifetime and LCA (Life-cycle assessment). The synergy between various combination technologies and configurations will be researched, evaluating benefits in terms of operational costs and energy efficiency.

Water reuse and micropollutants treatment

We are a global, leading supply and design company in industrial and municipal wastewater and water treatment applications. We are heading into several exciting projects to design and deliver turn-key systems for micropollutants (pharmaceutical residues and microplastics) using our core technologies. You will be a part of the crucial start-up phases of the projects, comprising design principles, field work at customers, sampling and analysis, pilot project execution at our facilities. You will investigate the proper design and technology configuration for a full-scale installation based on pilot project. The work will conducted in the field and at our facilities in Stockholm, Sweden. The projects are strongly related to scientific investigation of removal rates and LCA aspects of the complete design.

Ozonetech will also conduct water reuse and energy management projects in the horticulture field, for which applications are also open.

You should have a background in process engineering, environmental engineering or related scientific fields.

During your work, you will analyze hands-on problems, providing suitable solutions to improve  the water treatment. Therefore, you need to be results oriented, with a mindset oriented to business and being able to work proactively.
